Academic Support Coach, Part-time - Honors College

Reporting to the Dean of the Honors College, this part-time, temporary position is for academic support. The academic support coach is responsible for the academic support of a selected group of Honors College students, especially students whose academic performance or academic progress threatens their continued success in the Honors College. Depending on qualifications, this position may assist in the coordination of College assessment and data collection of student performance, collaborative organizing of Honors College events, especially those aimed at increasing student performance and sense of belonging, and organizing and conducting individual meetings with students and group study and professional skills meetings. This is a part-time, temporary position, approximately 12-20 hours per week.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain rapport with students attending one-on-one coaching sessions.

  • Provide guidance, support, and discuss skills such as college-level time management, stress management, note-taking and test-taking skills

  • Helping students identify their strengths and strategizing how to use them for academic success

  • Motivating students to strengthen their skills and form productive habits

  • Linking skill acquisition to professional success

  • Maintain and document all contact with students resulting from appointments.

  • Create materials such as bulletin boards, handouts, videos, and/or other products to promote student academic success.

  • Other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

  • Professional experience in developing and managing programs in academic enrichment, career and college readiness, or academic remediation/support.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to acquire basic knowledge of the academic and Honors College policies and processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
