Job Description:


Through partnerships with area high schools, the Office of Early College Access at Massasoit Community College provides access to and preparation for higher education. With oversight from the Associate Dean of Early College, the Academic Coordinator is responsible for providing strategic assistance and individualized support for early college students enrolled in college classes. The Academic Coordinator will serve as an intermediary between the College, faculty and high school liaisons, and is instrumental in facilitating students' progress and success by ensuring that appropriate collaborative support mechanisms are in place. This position works with the Early College Access team to develop and deliver non-credit bearing programs and events to strengthen the collegiate experience for early college students.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Collect copies and confirm proof of COVID-19 vaccination status for participating early college students planning on taking courses on a Massasoit campus; update student records in Banner and forward copies to Health & Wellness.
  • Collect proof of general immunizations for students enrolling full-time or in a health science program.
  • Organize registration and orientation events for students and families, to include Summer Bridge programming.
  • Provide support with the registration and enrollment process for early college students; conduct registration, orientation and information sessions on and off campus.
  • Work directly with high school liaisons to provide targeted support to students demonstrating academic, social, and/or behavioral risk factors; track grades at end of semester and provide follow up support for students who earn an incomplete.
  • Provide support with assessment testing for college placements (proctoring Accuplacer) for prospective students.
  • Conduct degree audits and provide academic advising for early college students; serve as primary point of contact for New Heights Charter School of Brockton students; coordinate communications regarding college processes (i.e. graduation application deadlines, commencement ceremony details, etc.).
  • Coordinate events for high school students and their families (i.e. college tours, financial aid nights, etc.).
  • Facilitate college success seminars on campus and at partner high schools.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, families, faculty, staff, school district personnel and community-based organizations; represent the Office of Early College Access at meetings with college partners, district personnel, high school administration, and community partners.
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
  • Perform other duties as required to enhance the success of the Early College Access department.



Requirements:


  • Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Communications, Counseling, Human Services, Business Administration, Marketing or closely related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience and/or training involving college enrollment, career center counseling, college advising, program management within higher education; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years teaching experience with young adults, preferably in high school or community college setting.
  • Minimum three years demonstrated experience working with diverse populations (e.g., cultural, ethnic, socio-economic, gender, sexual orientation, religious, etc.).
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills (oral/listening/written) with competency in organizing data, maintaining files, and preparing reports.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Aptitude for variety and changing expectations with an ability to independently take initiative and work efficiently, exercising reasonable judgment in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment.
  • Experience with critical evaluation of complex educational systems through the lens of equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate problem-solving skills, while maintaining diplomacy, courtesy, professionalism, and a customer service attitude.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which include days/evenings/weekends, as needed.

COVID VACCINATION REQUIREMENT: Candidates for employment should be aware that all Community College students, faculty, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated. This position is subject to grant-funding and is currently funded through June 30, 2023.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., including occasional nights and weekends

Salary: $63,607 - $69,615 annually, Grade 6. Salary is commensurate with education, experience and based on the MCCC Classification Study.

Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and partner high schools.
